Enjoying doing these 10-disc roundups of beloved artists for The Vinyl Factory. Here, enter the tempestuous, radical world of Laura Nyro, the brilliant singer-songwriter who shunned the system and the music industry... but whose message continues to be transmitted in the many cover versions she began attracting in her teens...

My Prince Royce piece in The Guardian

Happy synchronicity... after years of trying to write about bachata supremo Prince Royce, I finally got to do it for The Guardian -- and it came out on the day of Royce's first English LP, Double Vision

Vinyl Factory UK: 99 Records & reissues of my Launderette/PrivateArmies... Rough Trade roots ... memories/futures made of THIS...

My personal zeitgeist-o-meter has been trembling as my (early 80s) first solo record, "Launderette/Private Armies,"  is currently bubbling on media screens... first off, in UK's Vinyl Factory piece on 99 Records, who released it over here (I put it out on my own Window Records with Rough Trade in the UK...)... the other VF  availed themselves of a lengthy piece that ran in a 'zine called Tuba Frenzy, and added their own Gallery of images....

... then Randall Roberts in the LA Times singled out Private Armies (P.A.) Dub as an "Unsung classic" in his review of my mate and producer Adrian Sherwood's ;atest re-issue compilation, "Sherwood at the Controls (Vol. 1)"......

... and to cap the moment, the Independent celebrated the contribution of some formative Rough Trade possee, Jeannette Lee & Geoff Travis...  I was touched by quick mentions that flew me back  to a birthday dinner right around Launderette time, in a certain Thai resto off Piccadilly Circus... one night really can change people's lives... and music can do amazing things when it springs from community...

Bob Marley's 70th Earthday. The Guardian - picked by biznews.com -- Red Bull Music Academy Radio, Vinyl Factory, WEAA 88.9 FM

I was honoured to be asked to speak or write about Bob Marley in various media  on his 70th Earthday.

In The Guardian, "His friend Vivien Goldman asks how a hard-working activist came to represent feelgood partying, and salutes his enduring influence."

I also contributed to this interesting communal piece on Bob at Vinyl Factory with various people including Public Enemy's soundscaper, Hank Shocklee -- I covered Survival...

The esteemed Chairman Jefferson Mao & I shared a warm & wide-ranging extended reasoning on Bob for Red Bull Music Academy Radio:

... & as I write this, I am about to do an interview about Bob at 2.30 (this is Feb 7, 2015...) with Claudette Habermann of National Public Radio, Baltimore, Morgan University Radio. I am following an interview with his daughter, Cedella.
